i-Size (Regulation R129) is a legal regulation for child car seats that uses a new way of crash testing, including a side-impact test. i-Size seats are selected based on the child's height to ensure the seat is suitable for their size.
i-Size car seats are considered the safest, with improved head and neck protection. This is because:
- Side-impact test results are evaluated as part of the i-Size standard.
- i-Size safety tests are conducted with advanced Q-dummies that have more sensors than the dummies used in R44 testing.
- Your baby must travel in the very safe rear-facing position until the minimum recommended age of 15 months. Some i-Size seats can be used rear-facing until your child reaches a height of 105 cm, which is about four years. Research shows that rear-facing seats can offer up to 75% more protection in the event of a traffic accident.
