i-Size (Regulation R129) is a legal regulation for child car seats that uses a new way of crash testing, including a side-impact test. i-Size seats are selected based on the child's height to ensure the seat is suitable for their size.
i-Size seats are considered the safest, with improved head and neck protection. This is because:
- Side-impact test results are part of the i-Size standard.
- i-Size tests are conducted with advanced Q-dummies, which have more sensors than the dummies used in R44 tests.
- Your baby must travel in the safe, rear-facing position at least until the recommended age of 15 months. Some i-Size seats can be used rear-facing up to a height of 105 cm, which is about 4 years. Research shows that rear-facing seats can offer up to 75% more protection in the event of a traffic accident.
